I Exist, Therefore I Am
67My body will be 42 years old in a few days. But "I" won't be. "I"...the real me, the spiritual me, is timeless. It does not age, and has always existed. Even if it existed only since I was conceived, it, "I", have still always existed. When I consider myself, I see I am made up of two parts. The physical and the spiritual. The physical is only a temporary shell. The spirit is permanent. There is only ONE who can destroy the spirit...the ONE who created it. Our CREATOR is also the only one who has a right to decide whether we, both physically and spiritually, have a right to live or die. HE alone knows each man, woman and childs heart, thoughts and desires. HE knows even what we hide from ourselves.
When GOD called HIIMSELF "I AM", HE was describing HIS state of being, of existence. One day several years ago, I came to the realization that I, to, am. I am not claiming to be GOD when I say this. I am stating a fact about my existence, my state of being. I exist, therefore, I am. GOD exists outside of time and space, and therefore exists in ALL times and space. HE is always in the now, yet the now is always, both forward and back. In my own world, I exist in the now as well. I do not worry about the past, nor concern myself with the future. I am...not I was, or I will be...those are GODs state of being, not mine.
I can actually feel my spirit, or perhaps it might be better to say i can feel its state of being. While I know it is ageless, it feels like a mixture of extreme (as in forever) age and standing still in time. It is rather hard to describe this feeling.
While this world holds many exciting things and adventures, and many I care deeply for, I look forward to the day I cast off this physical manifestation of me and am free of all physical restrictions. Many people believe that we are given a new body when we "get to heaven". I believe our new body is nothing more than our real self...our spiritual self. yes there will be many who are saved yet still need healing...the spirit cannot be destroyed, but it can be broken by man. But GOD, the CREATOR of our spirit is quite adept at healing our spirits.
There is a famous saying...I think, therefore I exist. perhaps it should read instead...I exist, therefore I think...or I am.

timcgaa,
Everyone has a right to define their existence. I congratulate you for yours which is well versed.
Ronnie
Glad to meet someone who shares the same belief I have, tlmcgaa70! I've written about the timelessness of our soul in Aspects of Time ... which talks about our destiny.
I believe it is what stays awake and conscious while we are asleep, giving us a vast reservoir of ideas to draw upon.
Thanks for sharing,
Quirinus
Thanks you for being on hubpages, tlmcgaa70! Your kind words and constructive criticisms, I'm sure, keep a lot of hubbers like myself keep on writing.
Best,
Quirinus
